As part of the Communities Go Circular project, representatives of Zelena Istra participated in a conference held in the Italian town of Capannori on September 30 and October 1, 2023. The event aimed to promote repair and reuse centers and encourage local communities to reduce waste through creative and sustainable initiatives.

The conference, titled I Centri del Riuso, gathered 70 participants from Italy and abroad, including representatives of organizations and institutions working on sustainable practices. Representatives from reuse centers across Italy shared their experiences and took part in discussions on establishing new centers, addressing financial and logistical challenges, and building sustainable local communities.

During the two-day event, as part of the Re-Festival, various open-air workshops were held for children and adults. The workshops covered topics such as repairing small household appliances, creating personal hygiene products from recycled materials, and adopting a creative approach to waste. A total of 139 citizens participated, further raising awareness of the importance of waste reduction.

The event concluded with a concert by the Gaudats Junk Band, whose members play instruments made from recycled materials, symbolically highlighting the importance of reuse and creativity.
