EcoQuest 2 in Trnava: Testing New Educational Activities for Young People

As part of the EcoQuest 2 project, we participated in a project partners’ meeting in Trnava, where we tested new activities designed for working with young people. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences, try out newly developed resources together, and gather feedback to support their further improvement.

During the meeting, special attention was given to two activities: an educational video game and LARP (Live Action Role-Playing).

Testing the Educational Video Game

The first part of the meeting focused on testing the video game developed within the project. By playing the game and exploring its features, we assessed the user experience, accessibility, and engaging nature of the content, while also providing suggestions for further development. The aim is to ensure that the game meets young people’s needs and interests and offers an interactive learning experience.

The next phase of the project will involve testing the video game with young people. Their opinions and suggestions will help us further improve the game and shape its final version.

Learning Through LARP and Role-Playing

The second activity we tested was LARP (Live Action Role-Playing), an interactive learning method based on role-playing and participation in a collaboratively developed story. The activity is designed for young people aged 15 to 25 and allows participants to take on different roles, make decisions, work together, and explore various scenarios through their actions.

This approach provides young people with opportunities to participate actively, develop communication and critical-thinking skills, and reflect on environmental and social issues. LARP will also be tested with young people in the next phase of the project, and their feedback will play an important role in its further development.

Actively Involving Young People in Learning

Video games and role-playing activities can be valuable tools in non-formal education, as they combine learning with practical experience, exploration, and collaboration. Through these activities, young people can develop creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills while exploring environmental and sustainability topics in an accessible and interactive way.

One of the key objectives of the EcoQuest 2 project is to involve young people in the development and improvement of activities designed specifically for them. Their experiences, opinions, and suggestions are essential to creating resources that reflect their interests and needs.

We look forward to the next steps of the project and the upcoming testing of these activities with young people, continuing our efforts to develop innovative approaches to learning about the environment and sustainability.
