Climate Bridges - Strengthening Climate Protection Through Cooperatio

The "Climate Bridges - Strengthening Climate Protection Through Cooperation" project is dedicated to enhancing climate protection in the Western Balkan countries by establishing an international climate network (Dinaric Climate Network – DCN). The network will support the implementation of the recently agreed Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (aligned with the EU Green Deal) at the regional and local levels. It involves a wide range of stakeholders and fosters exchange and discussion between civil society organizations and public administration bodies.

The project builds on experiences gained from similar processes in the Alps, such as the Alpine Partnership for Local Climate Action or the Alpine Climate Board.

Project outputs:

  •     Establishing the Dinaric Climate Network (DCN) to strengthen transnational climate governance;
  •     Organizing a competition for good practices in climate protection in the Dinaric countries with an award ceremony;
  •     Developing three climate strategies/action plans based on the Green Agenda for three pilot regions in the Dinaric countries.

During the project, Zelena Istra will:

  •     Participate in the development of criteria for selecting good practices;
  •     Contribute to mapping local stakeholders in the field of climate protection;
  •     Promote the competition for good practice projects via internal and external media channels;
  •     Participate in the selection of the best good practice projects and the award ceremony;
  •     Collaborate with one pilot region;
  •     Analyze existing climate strategies, summarize them, co-organize a workshop on improving climate strategies, and draft final climate
        strategies together with local partners and external consultants;
  •     Organize four workshops for pilot regions and participate in a study trip;
  •     Engage in exchanges with the Alpine Climate Board and mobilize stakeholders;
  •     Participate in organizing the final conference.
