Within the Erasmus+ programme, a new international project, EcoQuest 2 – Games for Environmental Education, has been launched, focusing on climate change and educating young people about environmental protection. The project is a continuation of last year’s successful project EcoQuest – Narrative Video Game for Climate Participation, which encouraged young people’s active participation through innovative learning methods.
Project Objectives
The aim of the EcoQuest 2 project is to develop innovative games and educational materials for young people aged 16 to 25, with a focus on the environment and climate change, as well as on ways of active engagement within the European Union. The project is based on the GreenComp framework and the development of key green competencies.
Project Results
- educational video game
- live-action role-playing educational game (LARP)
- guide on green competencies
- 12 worksheets on green competencies (one for each competency)
- project website
The activities will involve at least 400 young people, with feedback provided by 50 educators and experts.
Expected Impact
The project will enhance young people’s green competencies, strengthen their skills for action in the field of environmental protection, and encourage civic engagement and critical thinking. Special emphasis is placed on inclusivity and working with marginalized groups. At the same time, the project will provide strong support to educators and youth organizations through new tools, training, and game-based learning methods, thereby strengthening capacities for the implementation of high-quality and inclusive environmental programmes.
The EcoQuest 2 project introduces new, creative approaches to climate change education and represents an important step forward in empowering young people for an active and sustainable future.
