Green Istria is managing the first Community garden in Pula together with the following partners: Autism Association Istria, Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities of Southern Istria, Student Association Pula, Pula Gymnasium and School for Training and Education - Pula. The purpose of the garden is to improve access to healthy, safe and locally produced food, to contribute to the fight against climate change, to promote citizens' health and wellbeing, as well as participatory decision-making and to foster inclusion of people with disabilities. The garden was awarded to Green Istria after the campaign "Return the garden to the city" and unique participatory advocacy initiative which involved citizens of Pula and the above mentioned partners who developed a model of Pula urban gardens and community garden and advocated for the adoption of the model by the City of Pula. Within the initiative, City of Pula's decisions proposals about starting the projects of urban gardens and community garden were for the first time ever in Pula designed "from the bottom up".
